Founded in 1924, the Midland Chamber of Commerce is a membership-based organization that exists to enhance the robust business climate of Midland, Texas. All resources, programs, and events of the Chamber are designed to give businesses the opportunity to make or save money, acquire knowledge and skills, and/or make those all-important business connections.
From the moment businesses become interested in Chamber membership through their entire membership experience, the Chamber's membership department puts members first, working to provide them with numerous resources, including exclusive networking, marketing, and cost-saving opportunities.
Guiding potential clients to member businesses is one of the resources the department provides its members. Through phone call referrals, website referrals, and organizing cost-efficient opportunities for members to reach their markets, the department works to improve the bottom line of its members by increasing their business.
The Chamber offers events offering valuable learning, promotional, and networking opportunities for our members. These events include our State of Oil & Gas, State of Education, Star-Spangled Salute, and many more.
In addition to serving the business needs of our members, the Chamber also manages VisitMidland, the VisitMidland Info & Travel Center, the Barbara and George H.W. Bush Convention Center, and Centennial Park.
Located in the heart of downtown Midland, the Barbara and George H. W. Bush Convention Center provides the flexibility to accommodate meetings, conventions, trade shows, banquets, and any other possible need for space. The facility opened in September of 2019.
The convention center features a 20,000 square-foot exhibit hall, plus a 6,000 square-foot ballroom and a 3,000 square-foot meeting room. All the spaces can be subdivided into smaller rooms to accommodate a variety of event configurations.
The VisitMidland team works with industry partners with a mission to encourage economic growth by developing, promoting, enhancing, and supporting Midland as a vibrant visitor destination.
VisitMidland targets several visitor markets including associations, government, SMERF (social, military, education, religious and fraternal) organizations, sports, entertainment, group tours, and leisure visitors. The team is also able to provide assistance to local residents when planning large group events (such as reunions, weddings, etc).
The department is funded through the City of Midland hotel occupancy tax.
As millions of vehicles pass through Midland via Interstate 20 every year, the VisitMidland Information and Travel Center is now the first impression travelers have of our community and region. The center is a valuable asset to the community as it educates and informs visitors about Midland.
The center's mission is to promote Midland through displays, educational areas, and tourist information. Visitors can learn where to stay, which attractions to visit, what local shops offer a variety of merchandise, and where to sample the variety of local cuisines.
Another feature offered by the center is information on and the histories of prominent families and individuals instrumental in the development of oil, ranching, and transportation locally and throughout the region.
